Boomerang Bags Montclair Sewing Bees are making a comeback! Save the dates!

As part of Indie Arts Montclair's upcoming Skillshares, Boomerang Bags Montclair will have Sewing Bees on 2 dates- Thursday, October 3rd and Friday, October 4th from 11am to 3pm each day! Drop in any time for as long as you like. We'll be heading back to the 2nd floor at the Cornerstone Montclair building located at 198 Bellevue Ave. There is elevator access to the 2nd floor if needed. This event is free to attend!

Just like our past Sewing Bees, we encourage you to bring any sewing supplies you have! We will also be accepting fabric donations at the Skillshare! Please contact Claire if you currently have material donations.

What are Boomerang Bags?

Boomerang Bags is a community driven initiative tackling plastic pollution at the grassroots level. Montclair is a designated Boomerang Bags community and we are seeking volunteers to make reusable Boomerang Bags, help spread the word, donate material, and give us encouragement!

What are Sewing Bees?

Sewing Bees are free meetups where volunteers gather and make Boomerang Bags from donated material. No sewing experience necessary and all ages are welcome. If you don’t sew there are plenty of other tasks to help with. If you do sew, great! Drop in for as long as you like! Sewing Bees are fun!

What should I bring?

If you have a sewing machine or serger, please bring them! Also needed are irons, ironing boards, thread, cutting boards, cutting tools, scissors, pins, and fabric donations. If you don’t have any of these things you are still very welcome, there is plenty to do for everyone! Bring your good energy!

Everyone is welcome no matter what you can contribute! Everyone will get to take home a Boomerang Bag as a thank you for volunteering! The bags we make will be shared with the Montclair community as a contribution toward fostering sustainable practices and reducing plastic bag use. By the community, for the community!
