This is the 4th year Montclair has participated in Make Music Day, a global celebration of free music that happens annually on June 21st, the summer solstice. Make Music Day is open to anyone who wants to participate no matter what their skill level. Venues all around Montclair will host performances at different times all day and into the evening. The day will kickoff with a Ukulele Parade and Mass Appeal, when people come together and learn the chosen song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", on ukulele and play in unison, attracting on-lookers and encouraging people to join the short walk, playing, or accompanying the strummers with egg shakers and maracas. In Montclair, the Mass Appeal will start at Watchung Park, travel across Park Street, under the train trestle, take a walk around the plaza, and end on the Watchung Plaza Green. Check the complete schedule for all the performances, and if you enjoy them, give a shout to the performers and venues on the event pages, I'm sure they'll enjoy reading about how much you enjoyed Montclair Make Music Day!
